Get Hooked on the North

As you cross the 60th parallel into the North you will be entering an enchanting land that will offer you a unique sub-arctic adventure.

You will find yourself looking to our skies, no matter what time of the year you arrive on our doorstep. During ten months of the year a clear night sky will be alive with the green, yellow, pink and purple colors of the northern lights. All year around our sunrises and sunsets produce spectacular color shows. Do not miss catching the reflection off the lake from one of our beautiful beaches.

Your opportunity for outdoor adventure is limitless. Bring your canoe or kayak and spend some time on our river or lake. These can also be rented for the full experience.  Fish from shore in Town or chase the big one with one of our fish charter companies. The Town and local area has many hiking trails. Our sandy beach is a great place for a dip and a picnic lunch. The kids will love the play sets at the Territorial Campfround Beach. Fore! We have a beautiful 9-hole golf course with artificial greens and grass fairways. Rusty, try our driving range. In the winter the golf course becomes home to the ski club which possesses many kilometers of lighted trails. The ski club has produced a current member of the Canadian Olympic Biathlon Team. Ski-doing, snowshoeing and ice fishing are also options.

The Northwest Territories is rich in culture and tradition. Local art work includes beading, moccasin making, fish scale art and painting. Music plays an important role in the community and our local festivals.

You will find the Northwest Territories rich and diverse. Once you have been here you will have trouble resisting the urge to return to the ‘North of 60’.
