Meet your Neighbour Program
Posted onStrong neighbourhoods are important to the health and well-being of our town. When
neighbourhoods thrive, the people who live there thrive too. This has been well demonstrated
through the flood of 2022 which has in some cases caused extensive damage to
neighbourhoods and tremendous hardship for those residents. Despite the impact on individual
livelihood, neighbours have come together to support each other and along the way strengthen
relationships.
To recognize the demonstrated generosity and further develop the bonds that will support each
other through the extended flood recovery period, it is recommended that the Town implement a
Meet Your Neighbour Program this summer. Through the program, the Town would provide
access to a Town owned BBQ and tables and chairs. A food voucher would be included to
cover a portion of food expenses. Any neighbourhood could apply to the program through the
summer. Events would be in compliance with municipal bylaws.
