Truth and Reconciliation Events

The Hay River Metis, K’atl’odeeche First Nation and West Point First Nation invite you to ring the bell at the K’atl’odeeche First Nation at 10AM and then observe the Flag Raising and Walk for Reconciliation this Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11AM at the Hay River Fire Hall. This event is being held one day early to be shared with students from Hay River Schools. There will be ceremonial drumming included as part of the ceremonies.

The day honours the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities. Public commemoration of the tragic and painful history and ongoing impacts of residential schools is a vital component of the reconciliation process.
